How to solve IML process problem

In mold labeling process is mature technology. This article aims to introduce how to solve IML process problem which is common.



1.     Deformation
IML process is combining with injection molding. And the material of label and the shrinkage of label will also plays an important role in IML molding. If the label shrinkage is huge difference like part shrinkage, the container or cup will also shrink so that the deformation problem comes.
Solution: To choice suitable label material for IML part. The shrinkage rate need close to PP material shrinkage.

2.     Air bubbles
If mold design structure is not reasonable, it is easy to cause IML labeled part deformation, air venting problem so that the air bubbles comes out.
Solution: the designers need rich experience in IML mold drawings which need consider all related effecter things. IML mold could adopt slide inserting structure which is better for air venting. Besides, the label size also needs carefully considering. If not, when the robot put label into mold inside, the pressure and cooling also will cause air bubbles problem.

3.     Same label stick twice or more
IML robot through static sticks the label. If the static is too strong, the robot will pick more labels,
Solution: adjust IML robot static.

IML container mould design

Compare to normal injected mold, IML mould design will more complex and need more information about robot. Below is introducing some attention issue for design IML mold.

1.Robot information.
The IML mold need properly work with robot equipment, so before mold design, it need robot enter way. Sometimes is top entering robot or side entering robot. Besides, it need know robot center distance. After getting this information, the IML mold design could greatly meet this working.

The IML technology is widely applied in food container mold. And normally IML food container moulding is took a large proportion. This in mold labeling design is greatly with multi-cavities by considering big production capabilities.

3.Hydraulic cylinder position
If robots enter in side, in mold labeling mold design needs hydraulic cylinder put in top side and down side. On the contrary, robot entering is top, the hydraulic cylinder need install on side.

4.IML robot work with alarm
It is very important to install alarm on IML MOLD as the robot need monitoring system. Since the robot is very high speed, without monitoring system, the mold will easy get stuck. Hence, Alarm installation will ensure big production capability.

5.DME standard for spare part design
In mold labeling design, it is better for using standard DME spare parts. This way is better for mold maintenance in the future. And it could easily change.

6.Water nipple design
As you need, the IML mold could accord Hasco or Staubil water nipple standard. And it is also better for easily buying water nipples.

Thin wall container

Thin wall container and lid are widely used in daily life, especially for packing food container, ice cream container and so on. Hence, this large demand promoted thin-wall container mold development.




1. Food container lid and body need very transparent surface and nice appearance. So we adapt S136 stavax for mold cavity and core. Take advantage of this steel high polishing function, it save polishing time and also achieved high polishing result. Besides, it also could guarantee 3M shots mold life for food container mold. What’s more, the thin wall container also have high polishing surface.

2. Container and lid need good stacking and fitting. So we have strong food container design team. Part designer will draw most suitable stacking height so that saves transportation cost. And they will better consider the fitting between container and lid.

3. Short cycle time, huge productivity for thin-wall container mold. We design multi-cavities for container and lid mold. 12cavities, 6s cycle time by installing on high speed injection molding machine. Besides, food container lid could assemble on various containers which also save inventor’s cost.

4. Optimal cooling system and air venting system. We had strong food container mold design working team which designer had at least 3-4 years. Besides, if the mold core designed with insert, it will better for thin wall container air venting system.

5. IML system application depends on customer needs or not. Designer team need to consider this point so that the mould had this function. The IML thin-wall container could design to auto fall or semi-auto fall. And take advantage of IML robot, the thin-wall container will inject quickly and response faster.
